Simple Pleasures

With all the negativity that's hit the board lately, I thought it might be nice to shift gears to something a bit more pleasant. Part of the reason is I'm trying to hold true to one of my New Year's resolutions, where I vowed to be nicer on this board.

As a result, I'd ask everyone to try and keep things pleasant in this one.

    My simple pleasures?

    * Getting an email from a friend
    * Seeing the Texans win a football game
    * Winning a game as head coach of the Texans on NFL Head Coach
    * A newly opened bag of Doritos
    * That first sip of a glass of wine
    * The smell a Zippo lighter makes after the flame goes out
    * Holding my son while watching a movie
    * Hearing my little man say "Hot Pocket" (something about the way he says it makes me laugh) and "I'm doin' FINE!"
    * Finishing the last page of a book
    * Waking up early on a weekend and realizing you can go back to sleep

There's more, I'm sure, but it's a good start. Anyone else want to share?

The first chug of milk right out of a freshly opened gallon after a long night of work (yes, I'm single).

On trash collection day, emptying the kitchen can and all the wastebaskets in the house and putting the contents out in the street dumpster, and knowing that -- at least for an hour, maybe -- the house is free of filth.

The first beer of the evening with the game of your choice on the television and nowhere you have to go.

The look on her face when she realizes that, yes, you are going to go ATM.

The Waffle House breakfast I treat myself to every Friday. On a cold day, hot coffee, a bacon-egg-and-cheese sandwich and some WH hash browns are heaven.

Oh, and I too like going to the ATM and getting money. It's always nice to have a little cash in your wallet.

When that perfect word or phrase pops into your head.

Having a day when you can sleep until 3 p.m. if you feel like it.

    Anyhoo....
