I picture him lying in a gutter somewhere, mumbling incoherently to himself.

Me too. But with a smartphone, and still locking threads on sj.com.

When I was a kid, at Yankees’ Old Timers Day, they would introduce the retired Yankees, from Elston Howard, to Whitney Ford and Yogi Berra, to Mickey Mantle, and finally to Joe DiMaggio, who was always introduced last.

Now, if we had an Old Timers Day at SJ.com, and everyone showed up, who would be among the final group, introduced to the crowd, and who would be Joe DiMaggio, and get introduced last?

    Boom.

He's the Ali of this site. Hated in his time, but redeemed by history and now beloved in retirement.

    If eligible, it's him.

I guess the Reds have had Pete Rose on the field, right, even though he's ineligible for the HOF, so I guess we could seek special dispensation.

BYH would have been among the last few to be introduced, but he's come out of retirement.

It would be interesting to see how the committee would handle some of the guys who jumped to the Federal League.

At least a couple would get huge ovations from the crowd if they were invited back.
