Nadal would be a terrific choice, but if Federer has never won it (can't remember), I don't see Nadal getting it before him.
Geno? Great coach, but it is to laugh. Coach K? They might, but coaches don't sell as many magazines as athletes do, and selling is all this award is about these days.
If they want to pick a U.S. Olympian, how about Shaun White?
Long shot: Landon Donovan. I mean, in the big picture, the story of 2010 was that this was the year people in this country actually got into the World Cup. By people, I mean casual sports fans. Only troglodytes deny that soccer is mainstream in the U.S. now. Not as big as some of the other games, but part of the overall sports pudding.

    Brooks Laich?

Someone at work yesterday said LeBron was up for Time's person of the year. That HAS to be a joke, right?

Is Farber nominating Laich simply because he helped a woman at the side of the road?

Probably not. They were considering bin Laden in 2001, if I recall correctly. It's more of a "Newsmaker of the Year" than a "Good Guy Award".

Hitler, Stalin, Kruschev and Deng Xiaoping want nothing to do with him.

Halladay is on there but someone thought Kurt Warner was a better football choice.
