    Fun fact: Cubs are the only team other than the '04 Yankees to blow an 0-3 deficit in a postseason series against a major league opponent.

    Would Kyle Busch be the most hated SOTY since . . , Pete Rose?

    Since you have to have at least a thimble-sized amount of class and influence beyond the scope of your playing field, I think Mr. Busch is disqualified. It's not just about "great year" . . . or Roger Federer would have won it by now. And that's why I maintain Phelps is not a lock. He has enough class. But does he touch any lives? Retton/Moses/Blair/Koss all met that standard, and the 1980 hockey team gave an entire nation a lump in its throat. Not so sure Phelps does.
