showing examples of online editing work

Discussion in 'Journalism topics only' started by cluelesswonder, Mar 29, 2012.

  1. i work now as an editor for a major website. our job duties are broken down pretty precisely, so all i do is edit text.

if i'm applying for a new job, how do i show examples of my work? when in the print world i'd just send a page i put together. obviously that isn't happening here.

advice? do i send a file with a before version in our front end system and the after version posted online?

In the past, when they've wanted hard clips, I've printed out the file the writer sent in, then printed out the version on our website.

This might not work for your situation, but there are sites/web apps that allow you to convert a web page into a PDF file.

I used this one recently to gather clips for a job application

Or you can just hit print and select "Print to PDF." Or at least you can on a Mac. No web app needed.
