Should this quote have made its way into print?

Closing line from today's Chicago Sun-Times story on Ted Lilly:

''He's not afraid of anything,'' the scout said. ''The guy's got huge balls.''

Can't recall ever having seen that term in print before. Be interested to get folks take on this. My first thought is that it shouldn't have been used.

No way that should have been used, especially from an anonymous "scout."

  3. Can't say I'd go with it either, even if it was from a named source. Instead, I'd ask a follow-up question asking for an example or clarification.

You don't need a clarification. Unless the scout was referring to a physical deformity, the "huge balls" statement is redundant to saying he's not afraid of anything.

    closing line, too? eek.

I'd like to think that back when newspapers actually employed copy editors something like this wouldn't slip through.

I just wish the rest of the Cubs had huge balls like Lilly. I hate my team this year.
