Should NBA All-Star Game Bother with New Orleans?

The whales in those casinos dwarf most of these NBA and rap poseurs.

The real muscle was in those casinos, real quiet and inconspicuous, and it wasn't wearing a uniform, with an exposed piece or listening to a window-shaking bass line.

It's a shame what the NBA seems to have become.
Friggin' gang-bangers and blinged-out bullshitters ruin things over and over and over.
Can't stand to see 'em coming.
I don't cover an NBA team, but it's also sad for me to contemplate the NBA leaving New Orleans (Del B V?) again.
Tore me up when Pistol Pete and the Jazz went West. Tore me up.
I've still got my old poster.
Pete M's the patron saint of my home and has been for some time.
I thought Shinn had made a new comittment, once he saw the Saints' success, to stay in New Orleans.?
    Clarify, please.

Does the location matter? Seems like this type of situation is ripe to occur regardless of where the game is held.

You can make all the "comittments" you want, but it doesn't solve the fact that NOLA was a poor choice to put an NBA franchise before Katrina, much less after. The city was a football town before and Hornets attendance was already beginning to tank before the storm. There's just not enough money in town (Fortune 500 companies) to buy up suites and courtside tix. Only the fact that Shinn was involved gave the city any chance in keeping it around. The NBA's not going to let that dillweed move the team again. He'll have to sell before the franchise moves, I'd bet.

Does this weekend mean Vegas has ruined all chances of a franchise in pro sports?

Denver in '05 was pretty calm by All-Star standards.

I would think that Vegas' issues with sports gambling would be more problematic. I doubt a Hawks-Gamblers tilt on March 28 would involve the same crowd.
