Should I quit/demand a raise? Help...

    at our place, you get goals at the beginning of the year and then are reviewed the next year on how you did meeting those goals. Raise is based on how your review went. It's a one-time deal. You can't walk into an editor's office and negotiate a raise in the middle of the year. Well, you can, it just doesn't matter.
    I remember the good old days when raises were around 5 percent. sadly, it's now been cut in half.

    Thanks for all the advice. I guess I'll go with the most listed approach, which is to start sending out resumes and then ask my SE about a performace review. I'll probably wait a week or so before I put all this in action.

    That's nice. But, years ago, I went five years without a union contract or raise.
    I left before the contract was settled and lost out on backpay.
    My goal then, was getting out of there.
