Should I be worried or read anything into this?

I work for a small, and I do mean small weekly and I used to write, edit and design. That's what we all did in our three person department. Now, our copy editing duties have been pulled and we've just been told that the news designers are now taking the sports design off our hands so we can 'focus on our writing', should I worry about it?

Hell, no, you shouldn't worry about it. They're actually trying to make your life a little easier.
You should be thrilled, and throw all your energies into writing.

I agree with Walter. Take this worry off your plate. I'm sure there are plenty of others.

You shouldn't be worried. The news designers should.
