Go back and watch NBC's replay every 9-11 and see the misreporting that was going on. It happens. That cart left the barn decades ago.

This is all true. And most of that information is coming from official sources who believe what they are saying is true, but it later proves to be incorrect. That's one of the reasons there's no easy answer here. Not mentioning that the Capitol is in lockdown because of a shooting incident isn't an option. You can't really wait for the SID to hand you a quote sheet when it's over.

Doesn't sound like anyone's life was endangered when she was shot:

    Holy crap! Watch this:

Capital Police car crashes as barrier is raised in an attempt to stop the woman who was later killed.

Thankfully, he's been released from the hospital.

But, who the hell deployed this thing? With cops in hot pursuit, it was bound to catch one of them, even if it did deploy in time to stop the woman.

Had the woman been brandishing and using a firearm, she immediately would have been linked to a pattern by a lot of those working in mainstream media. That pattern, of course, providing grist for their anti-gun agenda.

Yet from what we're learning, she might, in fact, fit a very clear and different pattern -- mental illness, not unlike the Naval Yard guy and some other recent perpetrators of violence. Good chance no linkage will be pursued by many in the media, however, because it would divert attention to an issue that doesn't excite them.

Wait, the Navy Yard guy was mentally ill?

    Why didn't anyone report that?

Had to laugh at Wolf Blitzer - who always seems ready to say something that doesn't need to be said - when talking about the Arabic TV video he said CNN is working on getting a translator for the audio "to translate it from Arabic to English." Thanks for the clarification.

I laughed at the same thing. The Arabic was coming from the photog's reporter. I would bet it translates loosely as "Were you rolling? Did you get that? Please tell me you got that."
