The National, the new English-language broadsheet in the United Arab Emirates, is hiring copy editors and page editors for our impending weekend edition. Experience in travel, personal finance, homes or motoring is helpful on the layout side, as is business-section experience on the rewrite side. Anyone interested in working in a growing newspaper market should send their CV, along with contact info for three referees, to nationalnewspaper@yahoo.com. To sample our paper, visit thenational.ae.

EDIT: OK, a quick Google search proves I'm an ugly American ... My apologies to any Euros who surf the site. But I've never seen the term referees before.

Um, the word has more than one possible usage.

That job description would appear to have been written in Britain, the use of CV gives it away.

Careerbuilding, hotjobs and all those other crap ass sites use CV too. I hate it. I just hate it so much.

It's Latin. Curriculum Vitae, or another way of saying resume, which of course is French.
