Dispatch says that the released hostage texted a friend stating that unknown to Dantzler there are two other people in a basement room.

 

Dantzler demanding matches. He's threatening to kill a hostage if he doesn't get them.

 

Don't mean to sidetrack, but after "oh, my God, no!" my second thought was "Sheesh, and AP laid off the GRR correspondent. I wonder who'll get their byline."

Guy offed himself while on the phone with the cops.

I heard the scanner when he pulled the trigger to take himself out. According to the GRPD Chief, the suspect hemmed and hawed whether to give himself up and when the officers were giving him the directions on how to surrender, he offs himself.
