Don't see the ad on this one, but I'm told the Tallahassee Democrat is advertising for a senior sports writer, Steve Ellis' position.

His RIP deserves its own thread, so if someone knows where the job ad is please post.

    Democrat's Gannett, I believe.

    · Solid news judgment
    · Strong planning and organizational skills
    · Ability to develop and maintain sources
    · Represent the company in a positive manner in public
    · Must be able to work collaboratively across departments within our information center
    · Be able to meet deadlines
    · Typing, computer skills and knowledge on a broad range of subjects required
    · Some photographic ability, especially with a digital camera, some skill shooting video and recording audio for the Web site would be a plus, but not required
    · Four-year college degree preferred

    Working Hours:
Flexible including nights and weekends, and travel for sports coverage. This is an exempt job

Sounds like a fun assignment, the kind every college kid dreams about heading into the real world. Good luck to all who apply.

Don't want to pour a flood of cold water on this, but there is another post on jjobs for the editor's post at Osceola, the FSU magazine. The post says the current editor is taking the FSU beat's job at the local paper...

Anyone want to add insight? Two cents??

So they want someone with 10 years college or pro beat experience ... to take their own photos.

    Ah, Gannett.

Even better if they're a minority.

If that is indeed Ira Schoeffel, the Democrat made a great hire.

That is correct on both counts. Great hire, real good guy.

WTF? Why post for a position that has been filled?
    Way to go Gannett.
