    Senior Editor at Sports World News

    Sportsworldnews (www.sportsworldnews.com) is a global sports publication experiencing rapid growth. The editor is responsible for setting the overall editorial direction of the online publication, generating ideas for covering the latest sports news and increasing readership for the publication. The editor also updates the publication's home page, edits and writes stories. The ideal candidate is an outside-the-box thinker who can help establish a unique identity for Sports World News, has developed sources and relationships within the sports industry, loves his or her work and is exceedingly passionate in online media reporting.

    Responsibilities:

    1. Give Editorial voice and direction to the publication

    2. Lead a fast-paced team of reporters to ensure publication leads as well as follows in reporting the latest entertainment news stories and issues of the day.

    3. Plan and Execute editorial/content strategies to increase the traffic of the publication.

    4. Generate ideas, assign articles, challenge reporters to come up with original story angles to ensure the content is engaging and interesting.

    5. Edit stories, update the site's home page and write stories for the site.

    6. Interview key influencers from throughout the sports world, write features and columns on a regular basis

    7. Recruit and sustain contributing columnists

    8. Coordinate editorial with marketing and social media activities

    Requirements:

    1. Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications or related field required (Master's Degree preferred)

    2. Five years’ experience managing a team, either as an Editor or Assistant Editor for a considerably known online news publication

    3. Excellent writing and editing skills, committed to quality content

    4. Strong sources and relationships within the sports and sports journalism industry.


    5. Understands how to engage audiences, drive and create original content and how to activate social media to spark viral readership of articles and sections

    6. Extremely fluent in all sports.

    7. Proven record of success for increasing readership for an online publication

    8. Excellent attention to detail, organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills

    9. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, results-driven environment and able to quickly adapt to the ever changing digital media landscape

    10. Strong grasp of SEO, social media: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest
