JournalismJobs.com - Job Listing - Seeking Talented Sports Reporter

The Messenger-Inquirer, a daily newspaper in western Kentucky's most vibrant city, is seeking a full-time sports reporter. The ideal candidate will have experience covering local and college sports, but we will certainly consider talented recent college graduates. Candidates who also have the ability to shoot photos are strongly preferred, but that is not a requirement for the job.

This position will offer someone the opportunity to write about a variety of sports, as we cover nine high schools and four colleges -- including the University of Kentucky, Western Kentucky University and Kentucky Wesleyan College, which has won eight Division II National Championships in men's basketball.

Owensboro is a city of nearly 60,000 people, in a county of nearly 100,000 on the Kentucky/Indiana border. It's about 2 hours west of Louisville, Kentucky, and about 2 hours north of Nashville, Tennessee.

To apply, please send a cover letter, resume and work samples to Executive Editor Matt Francis at mfrancis@messenger-inquirer.com and Sports Editor Jim Pickens at jpickens@messenger-inquirer.com.
