    Description:

    The Monitor, a 41,000-circulation newspaper located in McAllen, Texas, is looking for a sports designer who has reporting skills to join our staff.

    The Monitor sports staff covers beats ranging from high school football, minor league hockey, NBA Development League, the University of Texas-Pan American and other sports. High school sports are prominent in our section and drive RGVSports.com.

    Tasks include serving as a primary designer/copy editor for our print sports section, using InDesign and posting stories and photographs online. We want someone willing to learn new skills as new technologies evolve and who will drive engagement, amplify coverage, and leverages various social/digital properties.

    We are looking for a motivated person who is willing to take risks with design and use creative headlines to draw readers to our comprehensive local sports coverage.
