JournalismJobs.com - Job Listing - Seeking Sports Editor

The Times-Standard, a small daily newspaper in Eureka, is seeking a sports editor to help oversee sports/news coverage along the beautiful coastline of Northern California. We’re looking for a creative, innovative editor to help coordinate in-depth sports coverage in a community that includes a university and community college as well as multiple high schools. The shift includes nights and weekends as well as a news shift on Sundays. Strong proof-reading, writing and organization skills are a must. Our newsroom is fun, competitive and fast-paced. The reporters are motivated, self starters. Our focus is on community reporting with an emphasis on issue-orientated coverage and a strong Web presence. The rugged coastal setting is a recreational paradise with an abundance of opportunities for cycling, hiking, camping, kayaking, surfing, mountain biking and more. We are a family-friendly newspaper that offers a competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k and paid vacation time. Send resume and clips to managing editor, Kimberly Wear at editor@times-standard.com
