JournalismJobs.com - Job Listing - Seeking high school sports reporter

    Description:

The Wichita Eagle is seeking a reporter to cover high school sports in our region. The Eagle and its preps website, VarsityKansas.com, are known for thorough coverage of high school sports through stories, photos, video and social media.

The reporter will coordinate and execute our high school sports plan. We cover more than 55 schools in 20 sports. The reporter will also be called upon to cover events and stories off the prep beat.

An applicant should be able to:

    • Write cleanly, use solid judgment and meet tight digital and print deadlines.
    • Not only report news but find the engaging stories within the high school sports beat.
    • Excel at organizating all the facets of the difficult beat.
    • Engage readers through Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other social-media sites.
    • Produce stories and interviews through video.
The reporter works out of The Eagle’s office but will also be covering games and events. He or she must be able to work nights and weekends.

A bachelor’s degree is required and experience at a professional newspaper is preferred.

E-mail a resume, clips and links of multimedia projects to sports editor Kirk Seminoff at kseminoff@wichitaeagle.com.
