    Seen on scripps website (http://www.scripps.com/job-details?rid=6834).

The Commercial Appeal, Memphis' daily newspaper, is seeking an enterprising, news-breaking and digitally savvy reporter to cover the Southeastern Conference, and also supplement our coverage of the NBA Grizzlies. We're looking for someone with serious reporting chops who can approach the SEC as a news beat, while also mining it for features that show depth and writing flair. We have launched a major digital initiative, including videos, live chats and other online features, but the old-school values of solid reporting and enterprising story ideas remain paramount. Applicants must have at least five years' experience and a portfolio that demonstrates the print and digital skills to shine on one of our best beats.

Don't think so. He covered MSU-OK State Saturday and Hugh Freeze's Ole Miss presser today:

Huge get for Nola.com. They're in a newspaper war with the Advocate and they aren't pulling punches.

Higgins is great. Great guy too... If memory serves, he broke the Albert Means scandal a zillion years ago. Great hire for New Orleans.

No, that was Gary Parrish, who was the CA's prep writer at the time.

Hear Higgins is going to be based in Baton Rouge. NOLA.com forked over major $$$ to get him.

He's left Memphis once before, for Mobile in about 1998. Was given carte blanche to cover whatever college game he wanted to each week, and also given Saints beat. Went back to Memphis after one football season.

I tried to register on the site to apply for this but the security thing won't let me through. The "type in the letters you see here" bit. Doesn't work.

    Anybody else get past that?

There may be something wrong with the password you entered to register for the site. I had the same problem with applying.
