Oh, I don't know. Maybe Roger Staubach... or 40 other guys I'll think of in the next few days.

Staubach better than Tebow -- in college? By what possible standard?

(And yeah, I know the game was different. Not as much passing. Still -- Tebow's been better in every possible respect, including, you know, two national championships.)

Year Comp Att % Yds TD
    1962 67 98 68.4 966 7
    1963 107 161 66.5 1474 7
    1964 119 204 58.3 1131 4

    Passing Rushing
Season Team GP Rating Att Comp Pct Yds TD INT Att Yds TD
    2006 Florida Gators 14 201.7 33 22 66.7 358 5 1 89 469 8
    2007 Florida Gators 13 172.5 350 234 66.9 3286 32 6 210 895 23
    2008 Florida Gators 14 172.4 298 192 64.4 2747 30 4 176 673 12

  3. In fairness, Staubach did have the better haircut and shinier shoes.

Come on now. Your hatred for Tebow and everything else SEC is well documented. But don't go talking crazy.

I can't wait to see this list.

For anyone in their right mind, no, they realize it's a non story.

But to the Florida metro daily that spent three-quarters of its lead sports pages one day on SEC Media Day, someone obviously believes that's all its readership wants. Problem is, Bubba's not a subscriber.

C'mon, you stupid dickheads. You should know by now that all the jerks who rant about SEC bias have no freaking clue what actually goes on with the SEC and college football.[/crossthread]

For those who think this wasn't a story, this was from the SEC Media days, with three days of coaches spouting cliches.

If Tebow had farted, it would have been a Page 1 story.

Well, to be fair, Sam Bradford and Colt McCoy both posted better overall numbers and that was just last season.
If the measure is national titles and on-field performance, you'd have to argue yourself into a corner not to have Tebow among the best ever.

Tommie Frazier. MVP in three consecutive national championship games, one of which came in a loss.

In fairness, the kicker was rushed and had too much time.

Good pull, but I'll still take Tebow.

    Frazier -- 2 titles, 33-3 record, 4,003 passing yards, 47 TD, 18 INT, 49% comp.
    Tebow -- 2 titles, Heisman, 6,159 passing yards, 67 TD, 11 INT, 65.8% comp.

Not sure of Tebow's record off hand. Frazier rushed for 2,263 yards and 36 TDs, while Tebow has rushed for 2,037 yards and 43 TDs.

Tebow > Frazier, but I like where your head's at.

You have preseason all-conference teams so the beat guys have something to write about in July. Because of the SEC screw-up involving Tebow and Spurrier, they had something to write about five more days.

Now I guess they can go another week on which three media members didn't vote for Tebow.
