    I don't live on the west coast, but where i live, this story has had zero coverage.

    I will point out that Mel Gibson is a famous person. Perhaps you've heard of him before.

    A famous person got drunk and said some silly things. An anti-semeteic psychopath walked into a Jewish Communtiy center shoot 6 (presumably)Jewish women, including a pregnant woman. Killing 1 serious wounding the other 5. And said some silly things.

    The media tended to over cover the rantings of a drunk withou a gun, rather than a pscho who used a gun.

    Fairfly stiff indictment of professional journalism as a simple minded excerise by shallow people for a moronic audience..
