Found this buried on Sacramento's craigslist.

The Woodland Daily Democrat is beginning its search for a sports editor. The Daily Democrat is a 10,000-daily circulation newspaper located in Woodland, 20 miles northwest of Sacramento. This is a high-profile position and the person selected to fill it will play an integral role in not only the paper but the community as a whole.
The person taking the sports editor position must have a passion for local sports coupled with the ability of recognizing which non-local athletic events would be of interest to readers in Yolo County. Additionally, the sports editor must know pagination through Quark 6.5 be good at quick compilation of sports information, punctuation and grammar. Other qualifications include knowledge of the AP writing style, Baseview computer programs and of working with reporters including scheduling and copyediting. As well the sports editor’s responsibilities will include editing incoming copy from staff, page pagination, coordinating story coverage and working the public.
The Democrat is an award-winning newspaper, whose focus is on the community. To apply send cover letter and resume to: Editor Jim Smith at news@dailydemocrat.com.

I have limited knowledge of this shop, PM for details.

We've had this discussion before, but once again, what's the likelihood they're going to get somebody with Quark 6.5 and Baseview computer experience, plus all the other basic stuff, at a 10,000 circulation paper? Those skills can't be taught to the right candidate?

Hmm, does "working the public" mean selling subscriptons and shilling ads? :) Or, perhaps the previous SE was quite a glad-hander around town and therefore they don't want to replace him with a wallflower.

Town seems kind of isolated as well, but it's close enough to Sacramento and the Bay Area to have the award-winning combination of expensive housing with low pay.
