    This news saddens me. :'(

Drew was one of the good ones (and another one escaping MG). He'll be missed.

    Best of luck.

Congratulations to Drew. Danville - and MG's loss - is Averett's and college athletics' gain.

It's a shame he wound up in Danville, then. Just kidding - and congrats to Drew from a fellow MG drone.

Well of course they do. Somebody has to play the whipping boy for Mount Union...

So good luck with that, Drew.
But seriously, all of us here will miss him. Even though he never came through on his promise to build a fort around the sports department (with 75 percent more cannons!) to cordon us off from the rest of the newsroom, the evolution of the sports section under his watch was exceptional nonetheless. From the way he transformed the design to the way he consistently challenged us as a staff to improve, it was a night-and-day difference from what Drew inherited when he took over.
As Moddy so readily summed up, it truly is Averett's gain and our loss. And yet, we couldn't be happier for him.

Well ... we are a little pissy about it. A little.

But at least he'll still be around town to absorb our abuse! :D

    Fixed.

You've got a long way to go in the blowing smoke department.

NCE, Ohio -- Averett held two-time defending national champion Mount Union to 23 points in the final three quarters of a hard-fought 75-7 loss on Saturday.

Sophomore sensation Dontavious Watson powered through Mount Union's seventh-string defense on a 3 yard scoring run in the third quarter. Averett's offense also prevented Mount Union's defense from scoring on an interception return. Averett's gritty defense kept Mount Union All-American running back Nate Kmic out of the end zone in the final three quarters.

Drew is the tits, and I wish him nothing but the best of luck.

Edited to sound like I'm 29, not 59.
