    Company: Brattleboro Reformer
    Position: Sports Editor Needed
    Location: Brattleboro, Vermont
    Job Status: Full-time
    Salary: Not Specified
    Ad Expires: October 18, 2007
    Job ID: 827528
    Website: http://www.reformer.com

    Description:
The Brattleboro Reformer needs an energetic sports editor to start immediately. Local candidates are preferred.

Our emphasis is local -- and we cover a half-dozen high schools as well nationally ranked alpine and cross-country skiers and snowboarders. The sports editor should have strong writing skills with a good grasp of grammar and style usage, be able to paginate with Quark, take photos and plan coverage. We have a two-person department and several stringers. The sports editor also is encouraged to write a column and blog. This job is perfect for someone looking to make the jump to a daily paper or a reporter who thinks he or she can run the ship.

Brattleboro is the hub of southeastern Vermont and a community of lively, intellectual and committed residents. Nearby hiking, the Connecticut River and three fabulous ski resorts make this a superb place to live and work.

Send resumes, letters and clips via e-mail to: Sabina Haskell, Editor, Brattleboro Reformer, shaskell@reformer.com. No phone calls please.

My best friend and his heterosexual life partner moved there recently. He loves the town. Course he's a stoner/hippie, so take that for what it's worth.

If Rhode Island's not local enough...too bad. My wife went to a professional conference there a few months ago and fell in love with the place. She's in a field where getting a job is much easier than in our business.

Can't get naked in Brattleboro anymore. It's kinda sad, actually.

Read any of Archer Mayor's novels if you're interested in Brattleboro. Having once lived near there, he captures that region and every town in it perfectly.
