SCOTUS: People have the right to own guns

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by EStreetJoe, Jun 26, 2008.

  1. Right, but in other Western countries, where gun laws are stricter, the gun violence rate is much, much lower. Correct? I wish I was better educated about this. I'm fairly sure that I've heard that there is a very direct correlation. Now, if someone wants to argue that the tradeoff for civil liberties is worth it, then I would certainly say that's a fair argument.

That depends on where you live.

So if you can't enforce a law, the solution is to pass another law? Not sure I follow the logic on that.

I assume RedSmithClone will be on here soon assailing the Supremes for taking a sledgehammer to state's rights again.

Pass one that is easier to enforce.

Our news never has those stories. They're usually dominated by the weather or budgets.

In my city, it is usually 50% of the first 10 minutes.

Your city probably has more weather than other cities.

Well, it's unfortunate that such a basic constitutional question was decided by a 5-4 vote. I guess it's easy for those four, protected by armed agents of the government, to fail to understand the rights of an average person.

On the other hand, why are they protected by armed agents of the government?

'Cause some nutball with a gun may try to kill them, right?

Weather and budgets are the other 50%, actually.

The mayor and some schools are crooked. :)

Please read slowly: If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns.
