    Maybe he is independently wealthy or in debt up to his eyeballs. You never know.

    If you don't have kids or a significant amount of debt, it doesn't take much to factor in some fancy eatin'. Even in college, I brought my girlfriend to some nice places for an anniversary and what not.

    when i go out to eat without my girlfriend it's like bringing a 50 percent off coupon to the meal. or 60 percent. frikin wine guzzler.
