anyone hear scoop jackson at the nba finals? he was at garnett's press conference. it went like this:

    Scoop: "Scoop Jackson, ESPN.com."
    Garnett: "Scoop. My man."
Scoop: "They (meaning the press) don't know ... we go back. I don't know if anyone else in this room knows ... they don't know. Explain to them (meaning the press) ..."

He got the best answer of anybody in there. Better than the next question which was about defense.

Next question: Kevin, do you know the definition of sycophant?

And we all know he'll take that quote and turn out a great, cogent column.

Obviously the natural response, but there's something to be said for eliciting the answer Garnett gave. It really was the quote everyone wanted. Scoop at least did part of his job right.

"Good to see you too man, congratulations family."

A little weird to hear, but damned if he didn't get results. If only he could write, eh?

Garnett is tricky. You've got to throw him a curveball sometimes to get something different from him. Now, that doesn't mean you have to suck up to him and kiss his ass, Scoop-like. But in this case, the palsy-walsy approach did prompt a good response.

Echoing above, too bad he can't write.

  12. And the response was??
