York is too busy winning XC titles to worry about nicknames.

I wish my old high school would have done something with the nickname, seeing as how Lincoln was born in my hometown and all.

But no, we had to be the Hawks.

Half the schools in NY are called Indians or a tribe thereof. But there are some good ones where I am:

    Herkimer Magicians
    Notre Dame Jugglers
    Old Forge Eskimos
    Little Falls Mounties
    Auburn Maroons
    Potsdam Sandstoners

Oklahoma is like that, too, of course. About a third of the schools are some variant of Native American (Indians, Redskins, Savages, etc.) But the local Native Americans seem OK with it.

I see... so you can shoot 3-pointers and play a 1-2-2 zone, no?

As for the Kewps, I think it's because the Kewpie doll inventor was an alum. Extremely sissy, but at least it's original. Way too many Bulldogs and Eagles out there.

    Don't forget:
Ribet Fighting Frogs (except the school name is pronounced Ri-bay)
    Mayfair Monsoons
    Indio Rajahs
    Hollywood Shieks

    Crane Golden Cranes
    Muleshoe Mules
    Frisco Raccoons, formerly just Coons
    Lewisville Fighting Farmers
Happy Cowboys, just for the combination of the town name and, well, anything
