School admin assistants need love, too

    I was just a substitute teacher in a district, and I had full power to write detentions and suspend kids. It's hard to imagine that a secretary doesn't have more power - While she might not be a classroom teacher, she's still in a position of authority and influence at the school.

    That being said, it is a smart card for the lawyer to play, and I'm shocked she didn't get bail. At least in Rhode Island, the only people who don't get bail are the people accused of violent crimes (murder, rape, assault with a weapon) or flagrant, repeat offenders (most recently, a guy with seven domestics in the past two years).
