Say goodbye to the Fighting Sioux

    The story makes no mention of the NCAA where Minnesota or Wisconsin are concerned. It simply says they generally do not play teams with Indian names as mascots.

    Since they always play Illinois in every Big Ten sport, and certainly would play Utah, or any other school with an Indian name for a mascot, in the postseason, they are hypocrites of the first order.

    And I still can't understand the NCAA's stubborn lack of accommodation on this issue, since the Sioux reservation closest to Grand Forks - the only one of the two in the state whose tribal elders allowed the issue to be put to a popular vote among tribe members - have absolutely no problem whatsoever with the Fighting Sioux nickname.

    It's all about NCAA administrators being stubborn dickheads because ... well, that's what they are.
