    Yes, he was. My mistake.

And fantasy films do get recognized for Best Picture, but rarely for acting awards. That was the point I was trying to make.

I've seen it, and it's unusually nihilistic, but interesting.

I thought the problem, if you want to call it one, was that they had so many good performances in the movie that they couldn't pick just one. I love em just the same.

  4. Bought my tickets about a week ago to see it at 11:59 on opening night at the local IMAX.

Just wanted to point out that Ian McClellen got an Oscar nod for Fellowship. Didn't win, but he was nominated.

EDIT: If oop can fix his, I can fix mine!

Who is this Ian McClellan of whom you speak?

Now Ian McKellen? He's a heck of an actor. :)

edit: That's what I get for being a smart-ass...misspelled it myself the first time.

I had to check, too. Unfortunatly, I hit Post first, then I realized I had to admit my own error. Instant karma.

"Ghost World" and "Road to Perdition" were recent movies of some prestige that were based on comic books. Or, if you want to be arty, based on graphic novels. Either way, both got some Academy love, though only in the lesser screenplay and supporting categories.

A History of Violence, too. Had a couple Oscar noms in 2005.
