It's been one of those ridiculous weeks with no breaks ... so seeing as I had a 1 p.m. game today and there ain't shit else going on in around here, it seemed like a good day to stop by the "good beer" store in town and grab some eccentric shit, watch the VT-Miami game and imbibe.

Here's the menu. Feel free to add your choices of good under-the-radar brew.

Arrogant Bastard Oaked Ale. Fermented in an oak barrel.
Smuttynose IPA. New Hampshire brew with two old drunk guys on the label.
Stone IPA. Not so under the radar, but I love this brew. 6.9% alcohol.
Sierra Nevada celebration ale. 6.8%. Looks yummy.
Loose Cannon Hop3 Ale. Clipper City Brewing Company in Baltimore. Mmmmm ... hoppy.
Hop-ocalypse IPA. Frederick (Md.) Brewing Company. The favorite brew of the Frederick Keys. Or maybe not.
    Smuttynose Winter Ale. Looks dark.
Brooklyn Brewery Black Chocolate Stout. 10.6% alcohol. I think I'll start with this one. :p

It's just me, sadly. We'll see how well I'm posting by the end of the game. :D

Wish I'd gone to the beer store before work. All I have at home is Yuengling and a tiny, mini-bar bottle of Sambuca.

    Cosmo,
I'm about to hit up my local bar for the wonderful selection of Miller Light, Yeungling (sp?) and that wierd pumpkin shit they sell about two of a week. Guess I'll just have to bring my own chocolate syrup.
    Take that, bitch.

Grabbed a six-pack of Fuller's ESB and a four-pack of Samuel Smith Taddy Porter at the "good" store earlier. Attempting moderation, and it's going well so far.

Some reviews: That Brooklyn beer was very good. Very dark. Shit had brown head on it. I mean, brown head.

Just finishing the Oaked Arrogant Bastard. Yo, that shit is hoppy. Will put hair on my chest fo sho.

And the Hokies are winning. All very good so far.

I have half a bottle of rum and some marg mix here. Anybody in my neck of the woods, stop on by for a drink!

(btw, I love having the ability to buy alcohol at the grocery store)

I hit the ABC store near me for a 750 of Maker's Mark and Bacardi Razz and an airplane bottle of Starbucks Cream. I am drinking a Mark and Pepsi as I type. I am alone. This should not surprise you.

As for beer: I recently had a good micro from Asheville, N.C. called Highland Gaelic Ale. I'm a beer simpleton (when I do imbibe, it's Newcastle and Red Stripe), but I liked this.
