    I know it's not a technical answer, but I imagine it's the same thing as a cell phone signal.

    EDIT: I checked this site (http://computer.howstuffworks.com/wireless-network1.htm) and it has a pretty thorough explanation.

    So, my question. And it's actually serious. Which came first, the chicken or the egg? (And no, I'm not asking for a sex joke, though I'm sure there will be two or three).

    I'm just sorry that it took me so long to find this thread. I have definitely been wasting too much of my time on the Politics board and couldn't even come to the rescue of my sister! I reek of fail.
