Well, Chuck, I'll say this about you -- no one ever could accuse you of not acting your age.

oh ok, i got you. so if ratings for basketball are bad, it means the sport is dying. but if ratings for baseball are bad, it dosn't mean anything because there are too many channels. i see it now ::)

Don't you have a cross burning/lynching party to get to?

Bryce Maximus. That's pretty cool. Didn't Well Ferrell name his kid Maximus?

Haven't read all 8 pages but I saw an article (Times? Globe? Star?) that basically said the only sport that has maintained its TV numbers is the NFL.

Baseball is down, basketball is way down and, in the U.S, well, hockey isn't on the radar.

CBC numbers were down for this year's Cup Final but the numbers for the NBA Final--first game-were something like 140,000 viewers up here. To put that in perspective, I think the average Stanley Cup game was getting about 2.2 million.

But both the NBA & NHL Finals were damn dull.

And the NFL, with its single-elimination playoffs and telephone book-sized TV policy, has the freedom and the scheduling ability to maximize every last rating point.

    BT, you're right.

And they only play once a week.

    And of course, the gambling.

Oh, wait, there's no gambling in football.

JR, what is this gambling you speak of?

Preserve this thread for all-time so that we can recognize the exact end of Chuck's relevance on the board.

Maybe in five years when he's grown up we can unearth it so he can see what a fool he sounded like.
