San Diego mayor accused of sexual harassment, asked to resign

A Council member who used to be his ally, and two local attorneys who were big supporters within the Democratic Party, all sent letters recommending that he resign for what one of them called "credible evidence of more than one woman being sexually harassed by you." The council members are planning a press conference Thursday morning.

He took over in December and since then has been the subject of controversy over a developer's $100,000 contribution, an unannounced trip to France and the resignation of two aides who just couldn't stand working for him. They've also had a few meetings to instruct him how not to talk to women.

Also his fiancee broke off the engagement this week.

I am guessing this doesn't end Kwame-style but instead with a resignation and a home on the beach.

This one is heating up quite a bit. The Councilwoman says the mayor is accused of many, many instances of harassment, including telling women on the elevator that "they would do a better job on that floor if they worked without their panties on." He's also accused of groping a woman under the bra. And the ex-fiancee says he was having quite a few affairs.

His response so far is hell no, he won't go.

 

The good citizens of San Diego should demand that he leave office. That's just embarrassing.

 

Interesting he was a Freedom Rider and jailed in Mississippi in the 1960s.

I predict an admission in the not-to-distant-future that he's suffering from early-onset dementia, or something like that, and that's what's causing this.

His former spokeswoman files lawsuit:

McCormack Jackson accused the mayor of making several sexually suggestive comments to her and telling her he loved her and wanted to get married. The comments included: “I would do a better job if you kissed me,” “When are you going to get naked?” “Wouldn’t it be great if you took off your panties and worked without them on?” and “When are we going to get married? Wouldn’t it be great if we consummated the marriage?”

Apparently the marriage proposal happened while he had her in a headlock.

Second woman says he got after her too, eight years ago when he was in Congress.

At the fundraiser for Filner, Fink said someone commented to the congressman that Fink had been “working her ass off for you.” She told KPBS that after she acceded to his demand to turn around, he patted her buttocks and proclaimed, “See, it’s still there.”
