San Dee-Ay-Go, make that Los An-Gel-Es, Super Chargers?

Stoney, all of that will probably happen, but they'd still be no worse off than Jacksonville or a number of other markets.

And also: If not Vegas, where? Oakland was not happening. Moving in with the 49ers was not happening.

Exactly. We've ripped Jacksonville on here for years for tarping off the upper decks, but the Raiders have been doing that for 15 years -- while playing on a dirt infield for half its home games.

I'm hesitant on this Raiders move, but they're the Raiders, so if anyone was going to go there, it would be them.

The ideal situation would be the Rams and Raiders moving where they're going/went and the Chargers getting new ownership and staying put. That one is doomed for failure.

I think Las Vegas's economy is problematic.

The Financial Times ran an article recently that said the following.

"Start with the state-level GDP figures, which show the real output of Nevada’s private sector is still more than 8 per cent below its previous peak"

The gaming indistry is struggling because so many states have legalized slots.

Gaming is still the biggest moneymaker, just like horribly depleted print ads are for newspapers, but the growth area is Vegas as a place for bros and the girls who seek bros to go party. That's not a demo I see buying a lot of Raiders tickets.

The reason is that interest in gaming in Las Vegas has declined. The couple who went to Vegas a couplel times a year and lost a couple thousand each time now can frequently drive an hour and lose money at the local casino. The Vegas hotels are selling cheap rooms to cover marginal costs. The younger set does not have the money to support a profitable casino. The Maloof's built such a casino and it did not end well as they lost the property.

Gambling will continue to thrive at the luxe resort-casinos. The others will scuffle.

In the 98-year history of the NFL, there have been 17 total franchise relocations. Three of those (Bears, Lions and Redskins) were before 1940. Two were AFL teams that moved early in their existence (Chargers and Chiefs).
Of the other 12 relocations, the Rams (3), Raiders (3) and Cardinals (2) have combined for eight of them.
Some teams just gotta be nomads, I guess.

I guess that means they think they're better than everyone else. In which case, they're going to be sorely disappointed when they have to watch the Raiders.

Why the hell wouldn't they play at Sam Boyd for a couple years?

The Raiders' last game in Oakland might make the Browns' last game in Cleveland look like a quiet Sunday backyard game.
