Here's the URL for a memo about the Los Angeles Times hiring of someone two years out of college to cover the Los Angeles Clippers: http://www.laobserved.com/archive/2007/09/larry_stewart_off_tvradio.php#more

How much will he be making? $100,000? More?

Less would be my guess, just because of his lack of experience.

Los Angeles Times has been long known for its high salaries.

No one is paying a kid less than 2 years out of college 100K to cover the Clippers.

I'm guessing somewhere like $25,000. For someone living in Los Angeles.

At my shop, he'd get $18,000 a year.

No. The $18,000 a year figure is what we pay entry level reporters at my shop.

I'm trying to think of what I'd realistically pay a cub reporter at The Los Angeles Times based on his experience and what I know of the business. I doubt they'd pay $50K a year to a kid essentially just out of college.

I only use blue when I really am being sarcastic. Better than my old <sarcasm></sarcasm> "HTML tag."
