'Said in an interview' or just 'said' or ...

    Plain old "said" unless it's to add "Said with my cock in her mouth."

    "Said in an interview" should never see newsprint.

    Even if there's a reason to clarify when/how information is gathered, "said in an interview" is not a phrase I'd use. You'd never say "said in a non-interview."

    As we've acknowledged many times on these discussions, there are several legitimate qualifiers, some of which would imply an interview (rather than a presser or news release), but "said in an interview" is not one of them.

    Some story I almost used this week, from MCT I think, in which every damned quote was referenced that way:

    "Steve Spurrier said at his weekly Tuesday news conference ..."

    and there were maybe 6 or 7 of those.

    I cut every one of them out.
