Some people get their threads stickied to the top of a forum (Hi IJAG. Hi carrie.) Mine gets stickied to the top of the whole damn board. ;D.

«I don't see any evidence that it's a deterrent, and I think there are better and more effective ways to deal with violent crime. We've done so in my own state.»

Boom just likes to prove he can google a quote.

    And Wicked's right.

Fox News (I know.. but I can't handle Larry King right now) says officials who must be present have been told to be at the gallows in 30 minutes.

It's been known to happen on rare occasion. :D

Boom might be mocking what he considers "liberal" weakness when it comes to capital punishment. Perhaps he'll reappear and explain himself. And how sound a deterrent to evil hanging has been over the years.

    Might be? Definitely is.

That has no place here. It's not a partisan issue.

Or it may be a subtle mockery of the futility of capital punishment. You never know with Boom.

CNN has a line at the bottom of the screen that says that a U.S. judge just refused to delay Sadaam's execution. If this was really the Iraqi people, an Iraqi government, and the Iraqi legal system that convicted him, why would a U.S. judge be involved in any way shape or form?

A good chunk of the rest of the world thinks the trial was a farce, and that the U.S. was calling the shots. That's why he should have either been executed right away--if you were going to kill him--or if you wanted to make a show of due process, a trial shouldn't have happened until it could be under a real Iraqi system of justice, without U.S. involvement.

This should be a high point. A brutal dictator is brought to justice. Instead, we still somehow manage to look bad.
