    - "Time of Your Life" by Green Day

I remember a montage my Mom put together after my high school graduation and it brings me to tears.

May you rot in hell for even bringing that one up, Novelist_Wannabe

The first two that came to mine for me were Tears in Heaven (as usual, Dooley beat me to it) and Skin, by Rascal Flatts (knowing full well that someone is going to curse me for bring that particular group into the discussion ...)

"Rainbow Connection" -- Kermit the Frog

"The Long and Winding Road" -- The Beatles

"Do you remember the time of your life" --Paul Anka (I think this is the name of the title and singer that I'm thinking of).

"I Believe I can Fly" (A local child died recently, and the radio station dedicated the song to her. I had to pull over my car because I was in tears).

That's not too bad. But I think one of their sadder songs is "It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday."

It's hard to top "Gloomy Sunday," also know as "The Hungarian Suicide Song." Billie Holliday did the best-know version, but there are a million covers, including Elvis Costello. Here's the English translation, which apparently isn't as depressing as the original Hungarian:

    Gloomy Sunday
    (Sam Lewis and Rezso Seress)

Sunday is gloomy, my hours are slumberless
Dearest, the shadows I live with are numberless
Little white flowers will never awaken you
Not when the black coach of sorrow has taken you
Angels have no thought of ever returning you
Would they be angry if I thought of joining you?
    Gloomy Sunday

Gloomy is Sunday, with shadows I spend it all
My heart and I have decided to end it all
Soon there'll be flowers and prayers that are sad, I know
Let them not weep, let them know that I'm glad to go
Death is no dream, for in death I am caressing you
With the last breath of my heart I'll be blessing you
    Gloomy Sunday

"In the Backseat" - Arcade Fire. Even if you didn't know this was about her deceased mother, Regine Chassagne's vocal will rip your guts out.
