Don't they have awards for excellence achieved while in the postseason?

Playoffs showed he was not the best pitcher in the playoffs.

Who really cares who wins these postseason awards other than the players? Waste of space in my opinion.

At least MLB is able to keep the wraps on these awards during the playoffs, unlike, say, the NBA.

If they had made the same number of starts, I guess it would.

    Since they didn't...

OK, Beckett made two or three fewer starts. He was not on the DL very long.

It still works out to an extra two-thirds or so of an inning per start.

Beckett wasn't more dominant. Their stats are virtually identical across the board.

Wow, they got it right, but I'm stunned that they did.

So that's even more points for Sabathia. He started four more games. That's four more times he was available to the Indians than Beckett was available to the Sox.

Sabathia pitched 40 more innings in four more starts. I think maybe he missed a start near the end setting up the rotation -- I really don't remember.

You can do the math from there. What's left isn't much of a difference over that many starts.

WHIP was identical, ERA near identical, Sabathia had slightly more K's, Beckett slightly better in K's per nine.

Of course, Beckett was available whenever he was needed in the postseason.

    Including in the World Series.

Much like the NL ROY, either one would have been a suitable choice. I'm a surprised a bit by the points margin.

    No complaints if either won.

No doubt, that Cleveland was a sexier team at the end of the season while the Sox stumbled a bit hurt Beckett's chances.

Most pissed guy in baseball today: Josh Beckett. You gotta know he wanted this bad and since he's the only guy to win 20 in the past two years, had to think it was his.
