    The thing that struck me was what a great head-to-head player Ian Poulter is. He's a little nuts, but he obviously loves competition in a format that allows him to freewheel. Has that wild-eyed, obnoxious edge that drives opponents nuts.

    He's like what Montgomerie and to a lesser extent, Sergio, was. Last Cup America had that guy last year in Boo Weekley, who went 2-0-1 and managed to unnerve the whole European team.

    No kidding. And if he's not paired with Stricker in those other two matches, he has one point.

    Well yeah, but the fact that he figured out that if Woods didn't play in matches on Thursday-Sunday he would have had just one point is pretty impressive by his standards.

    Even Stupidville has a valedictorian.
