Ueberroth was talking about cocaine in 1986 and he was wrong. This is the clown who tossed aside the existing drug program at the time and ended up with none.

The Yankees made the same noise about Giambi, and then it soon became "maybe he would take a greatly reduced buyout" instead of a void.

They're stuck with that contract and it is going to be fantastic.

I suspect it's just known to be more dirty than American pro sports, but not actually dirtier.

Tip of the cap to the Alt-weekly for breaking this one. Heck of a job by the reporter.

The Herald is all over this story. Got that AP chaser posted as soon as it moved.

FWIW and to those who care about such things, the NY Daily News broke this on Saturday and had extensive reporting on Sunday.

While HGH has limited clinical indications, once a medication is approved by the FDA, it can legally be prescribed by physicians for off label use. Performance enhancing drugs are quite legal for use, but nn governmental organizations limit their use by athletes in competition.

One can find commonly prescribed and used substances in The List put out by WADA. Alcohol is a banned substance for some sports. Beta blockers used for blood pressure control is not allowed in others.

Please do not confuse legal with unacceptable because of activity.

Asthma medication contains banned substances too.
