Does anything positive ever happen if Rutgers is in the headline?

No - article said that Kolstad played for Mankato St.

It's been all downhill since 1869.

From Star-Tribune story it appears we don't have a completely innocent victim here. Witnesses say Kolstad punched Nelson in the back, and then another unknown assailant punched Kolstad and knocked him to the ground, where his head hit the pavement hard. It sounds like he was out cold on his feet. ... Then when he was down, Nelson delivered the kick.

They don't know who the guy is who delivered the punch, I'm sure they will find out soon. But it sounds like that was the more damaging blow, the fatal one if the guy does end up dying. At least that will be the defense's version in court.

It's getting to be about time for an SI cover story asking Rutgers to shut down its athletic program, like this one:

Other suspect arrested, Nelson no longer member of Rutgers football team:

Other guy has to be Legarrette Blount. He is the only guy that
has a knockout punch like that.

A former Mankato West High School student was arrested Monday night in connection with the beating that left a former Minnesota State Mankato linebacker critically injured.

Blue Earth County Jail officials identified the man as Trevor Shelley, 21. He was booked at 7 p.m. Monday on suspicion of first- and third-degree assault in the beating of Isaac Dallas Kolstad, 24.

I just found it hard to believe that Nelson would go kick the crap of a total stranger unprovoked. I suspect there is more to the story that we'll find out later.
