Former Gopher and future (maybe) Rutgers QB Philip Nelson charged with two counts of assault for kicking an unconscious man following an argument over Nelson's girlfriend.

Nelson kicked the man after another assailant, who hasn't been caught, knocked the man out with one punch and fled the scene.

Note to writers: Don't be afraid to break long chains of phrases into more than one sentence. When you don't, you get this mush.

    There is video:

The complaint outlines a fight in the early hours of Sunday morning in Mankato’s entertainment district. Kolstad initially punched Nelson in the back, causing him to fall to the ground, the complaint said, describing surveillance footage.

As Kolstad walked away, an unknown male in a red shirt and blue jeans ran after him, punching him in the head. Kolstad “Immediately goes limp and collapses to the pavement,” the complaint said.

Nelson then pushed past others and “delivers at least one kick to the left side of [Kolstad’s] head,” the complaint said. “The video clearly shows that [Kolstad] was defenseless as Nelson delivers the kick or kicks to the head.”

Kolstad’s skull fracture is on the left side of his head, “the area where Nelson kicked” him, the complaint noted.

It was a transfer from Minnesota. Those involved played for Minnesota. It happened in Minnesota.
The Rutgers coach and AD should definitely pay.

None of this would have happened if the Star Ledger would have just gone out of business.

good one. that bitch probably will keep a low profile for a while, or at least she should. what's sad is she has a job and pernetti was a good guy who took the fall for a dope coach and gutless people above him.

edit: not for the coach, with the coach.
good that pernetti found a new gig.

Apparently there was another person, unnamed in stories I saw, involved as well and it isn't clear who did what to whom.

I wonder if Nelson knew Kolstad or was just a random act of violence.

Not sure if they were in school there at the same time or not.
