Russian hurdler hurt by vodka-soaked compresses

    So, as a non-drinker, I'm confused...

    Apparently, prolonged exposure to this stuff can damage your skin. So why in the world would you want to ingest the stuff?

    I'm more curious as to why the compresses were soaked in vodka. I mean, I know she's Russian, but they can't be that bad over there, can they? Did they think there was some sort of benefit to soaking them in vodka outside of a potential buzz?
