So when does Al Pacino take control of a team?

 

Wow. Thought this league was dead. Then again, maybe it is.

 

Which will last longer, the league or this thread?

 

I caught a few minutes of last Friday's "barnburner" between Virginia and Sacramento. I doubt an NAIA school would use the bleachers Virginia set up across from the permanent seats.

 

I'll give 'em this. Even with just four teams, there are more recognizable names than the CFL.

Virginia: Jay Alford, Ronnie Ghent, Mike McMahon, Dominic Rhodes, John Standeford.

Las Vegas: DeDe Dorsey, Aaron Pettry, Brian Brohm, Eddie Drummond, Marcell Shipp.

Omaha: Maurice Clarett, Eric Crouch, Noel Devine, Dusty Dvoracek, Jeremiah Masoli, Troy Smith.

Sacramento: Jordan Palmer, Will Poole, Cory Ross.

Yeah, not good enough for the big boys' league, but at least there's some name recognition if somebody wanted to go out to see them.

 

The stadium was created for soccer, with a bern on the away sideline. But their USL soccer club went cleats up, and it went largely unused except for high school football and occasionally soccer playoffs. The UFL put the team there instead of Norfolk State's larger stadium because they couldn't sell beer at NSU's facility. So they did what they could to make do this year. Plus it's not likely there'll be a next year, so what's the point in major renovations?

 

Marty and Fassell coaching in that league leaves me scratching my head.

 

Sounds like a good start for Mean Machine III.

 

Are we sure Eric Crouch hasn't quit yet?

 

He's still on the roster. Maybe they aren't keeping up with their website.
