Running U.S Open thread

    What difference does it make if he flew or drove to New York? It's 400 miles one way from Pittsburgh to Mamaroneck, N.Y. Even if the paper reimbursed him 25 cents a mile, that's $200 round trip, which is a reasonable cost of a flight on that route. Financially, the difference is a couple of dollars -- literally.

    Not doubting you, bagel, but I wonder if an east coast Open draws significantly better than one in San Diego. The Pittsburgh situation discussed here would be a prime example.
