Matt Kashiwahara has been doing a lot of backup work on the A's with the Raiders gone hasta la bye-bye. Susan Slusser, who has posted here in the past, is the Green's main A's writer.

why should a baseball coach be treated more harshly than a leading civil rights activist aNd officer in the leading Civil Rights organization in the world?

It’s official: NAACP national leadership will not cut ties with Philadelphia chapter President Rodney Muhammad over the anti-Semitic meme he posted on Facebook a few weeks ago.

Ending weeks of media silence, NAACP leadership condemned Muhammad’s social media post but stopped short of calling for him to resign on Wednesday, according to an emailed statement from NAACP spokeswoman Austyn Ross.

The A’s players and coaches have confirmed that this was an accidental gesture.

That is the wrong call, too. Nobody with any sense buys his excuse and the NAACP is failing miserably on this one.

The NAACP is representing the feelings and beliefs of its membership. If anti-Semitism was a problem for them, they would condemn it and deal with it in the same way they have demanded others deal with racism as it affects their membership. As an organization they have little problem with blatant anti-Semitism, homophobia and multi or cross-racial gender issues. They are what they are.

You will pardon me if I don't buy into your take on that organization. The article certainly doesn't support your version of the situation, which has apparently caused a great deal of conflict within the organization.
