    Like I said, I look forward to progress. Trump is an impediment to it for reasons rooted in his actual incompetence and foolishness, and the intransigence he inspires in his opponents. What’s going on in Portland and many other American cities is not solely the fault of Trump, but framing it that way is an effective strategy for any elected official looking to abdicate all responsibility related to their job.

    When he’s out, I look forward to many of America’s bureaucrats and educators reimbracing their authority, and perhaps even exercising more of it, whether they were elected or not.
